Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Mollie King becomes first confirmed celebrity

Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Mollie King becomes first confirmed celebrity

Amid much speculation that she would be heading into the ballroom, former The Saturdays singer Mollie King was confirmed to be strutting her stuff on the BBC show this year. "I'm going to be giving it my all".

Although Strictly contestants are sworn to secrecy, King did reveal the news to her parents and her bandmate and Strictly alum Bridge, 28, who narrowly missed claiming the disco ball glory in 2014 when she came runner-up to victor Caroline Flack.

Fellow pros Natalie Lowe and Oksana Platero have also taken their leave of the show, meaning that three new dancers will be joining familiar faces such as Brendan Cole, Karen Clifton and Anton Du Beke this autumn.

King said: "It's something that I always said I wanted to do".

She revealed to Nick Grimshaw that only her parents and Frankie previously knew she was taking part.

Mollie will be following in the footsteps of bandmate Frankie Bridge, who came runner up in the 12th series in 2014. "I've always watched it with my family and it looked so fun". "She was so excited. I'm very competitive so watch out, contestants".

Strictly will be back on our screens next month!

The singer, who is 30, is known for her time with the girl band that launched her career, but also released a solo album in 2016. A source told The Sun of Conley: "Brian is all signed up for the show and is sure to be a laugh a minute".

"Producers loved the sex appeal and performance skills of Daisy Lowe a year ago and believe Mollie offers the same".

Strictly Come Dancing celebrates its 15th series this year and it's thought it will be broadcast in September 2017.
