Hearthstone gets new Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion next week

The launch date of Knights of the Frozen Throne was confirmed by Blizzard through a tweet, revealing that the expansion will be released to Hearthstone on August 10.

Following Journey to Un'Goro, Blizzard is releasing the next expansion in Hearthstone's Year of Mammoth with Knights of the Frozen Throne. The expansion will add 135 new cards to Hearthstone, including the Death Knight heroes that give you new powers.

Blizzard has altered the way it rolls out single-player Adventures. This time around Hearthstone players will be venturing into the frozen north to take on the Lich King and his minions at Icecrown Citadel.

The expansion will also include 8 free missions that will pit players against some tough new bosses, all leading up to a final confrontation with the infamous Lich King. The single player campaign will reward players who complete the prologue with a random legendary hero card and for those who complete the whole story, a free card pack will be rewarded. For those players who more than ready to put their money down, Blizzard is running a special pre-order deal where they get 50 Frozen Throne card packs for a discounted price of $50, albeit limited to one per account.

As mentioned above, the set is also including a new mechanic called "hero cards".
