WhatsApp achieves 1 billion daily active users mark

There are 1.3 billion monthly active users and 1 billion use it every day to send 55 million messages, share 4.5 billion photos and 1 billion videos. There are billions of users using the service on a daily basis, which is a huge number, to begin with.

Despite WhatsApp's move to adopt end-to-end encryption by default for its billion users around the world, rights groups have termed the policies of the instant messaging app too weak to protect user privacy from governments.

Facebook last month said it had reached 2 billion monthly users, and yesterday noted that as of June it had 1.32 billion daily users.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg just shared a staggering statistic on his company's Q2 earnings call, saying its messaging platform WhatsApp now has a whopping 250 million daily active users for its "Status" feature. Now, we are looking at 1 Billion active daily users on the platform.

Recently, WhatsApp users got an update to make all type of file transfers.

And one obvious reason behind such a massive amount of communication through WhatsApp is because it now supports 60 languages. The Facebook Messenger alone surpassed 1.2 billion monthly users. Our community is now more than 2 billion people, including more than 1.3 billion people who use Facebook every day. Instagram separately announced in June that it was at 250 million daily active users, and Snapchat announced 166 million daily active users as of its last announced numbers back in May. This only goes to show how popular WhatsApp really is and how people are taking advantage of the service effectively across the globe.
